Student Interns

A Midwest-IAC student intern will gain experience in the following areas:

  • Understand energy systems typically employed in manufacturing
  • Communicate with clients, utilities and vendors
  • Analyze utility bills and rates
  • Conduct energy and waste assessments at small- to medium-scale industrial facilities with faculty and other fellow student interns
  • Conduct energy analyses from onsite measurements and analyze potential energy efficiency measures
  • Write professional-grade engineering reports, detailing assessment findings and recommendations for energy efficiency and waste reduction
  • Project team coordination

Qualifications

Undergraduate Students:

  • Junior or low senior class standing
  • Majoring in mechanical or electrical engineering (other majors can be accepted if possessing appropriate skills)
  • Must be at least one year away from graduation

Graduate Students:

  • Enrolled in a M.S. or Ph.D. program preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or having experience in computer systems with emphasis on cybersecurity
  • Must be at least one year away from graduation
